We are very pleased to announce the completion (and occupation) of our new girls' dormitory, on the south side of the house where the boys used to be - the boys are now residing in the former girls' wing on the north side of the house. Huge thanks go out to our construction crew, our kennel staff, our suppliers, the building inspector, and everyone else who had anything to do with it. We worked hand-in-hand with the Colorado Department of Agriculture through it all, to make sure everything was done absolutely "by the book" and met all the requirements as it was done. Consequently, this was the state inspector's note and her final-inspection report:
Good afternoon Janet,
I have attached the report for the inspection that I completed on August 13, 2020. The new building is perfect for the Dachshunds and I support updating the older wing of the kennel. The plans and animal care that you have put into place with Dr. Sperry are excellent along with the staff that you have hired.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Cindy Thompson

Pictured below is our Meet & Greet Room, where you will get to meet your Flickennel dachshund. We built this over ten years ago, at the recommendation of our state inspector, to maintain greater biosecurity within the kennel. It's amazing - and dismaying - how many diseases can be introduced on shoes, clothing and hands, and many animal-care facilities, (dairies, poultry farms, stables, kennels, and others) restrict public access to their animals for that reason. Conducting tours through our kennel was great in the old days, but the safety and health of our furry friends - and our guests - must come first. As bad as COVID-19 is for humans, certain diseases are even more dangerous for puppies. Virus particles last a VERY long time in the environment, clinging to pets and shoes, and falling off in places like their home, and our kennel, where it's extremely difficult and expensive to eradicate them. We are thankful for our clients who understand that times have changed since the good ol' days, and trust us to present them with the very healthiest, happiest, best little furry friend they've ever had, unless they already have one or more of our dachshunds! It's never been about trying to hide anything from our buyers. It's always been about trying to keep everyone healthy.
and employees.
